Royce Da 5’9″ Interview With Hip Hop Official

Hip Hop Official chops it up with Royce Da 5’9″, 1/4 of Slaughterhouse. Royce Da 5’9″ speaks on the incredible buzz that has generated with Slaughterhouse. He states that Slaughterhouse has completed only the four songs that they’ve already leaked, but those four songs have done incredible things for the group. They’ve been touring non-stop, which is one of the reasons they haven’t put out more music.

Royce Da 5’9″ mentions that Slaughterhouse would like to complete an EP before Rock The Bells, which is in June. Stay tuned for that. Royce Da 5’9″ also discusses his upcoming album, Street Hop, which drops on July 7. Pay attention to this info: Royce Da 5’9″ announces appearances from Slaughterhouse, Busta Rhymes, and Phonte of Little Brother. Production from DJ Premier, who is also executive producing the album, Nottz, Bink, and a lot more. Hip Hop music at its finest, yes indeed.

Slaughterhouse Live From The Key Club

Slaughterhouse performs Onslaught.

Shake from 2dopeboyz and hiphopdx released this footage of Slaughterhouse performing live at The Key Club one night prior to their performances at Paid Dues. Pete Rock brought out the quartet of Joe Budden, Royce Da 5’9″, Joell Ortiz and Crooked I as surprise guests at The Key Club. In the first clip, catch Slaughterhouse performing Onslaught. In the second clip, they perform Slaughterhouse, and in the third, Royce Da 5’9″ performs Boom.

The show definitely looked hype, and is nothing but goodness for hip hop music. Oh yeah, and watch out for more Pete Rock related news in the next week or so. But until then, check the hip hop video footage of Crooked I, Joe Budden, Royce Da 5’9″, and Joell Ortiz

Raekwon Announces EMI Record Deal

Raekwon chops it up with On-Air Idiot Show. He announces that Only Built For Cuban Linx 2 is finished (finally!). He promises that there will be that raw hip hop music on the album, and that we can expect Ghostface on Only Built For Cuban Linx 2 on a few joints, but not throughout. Raekwon also makes a major announcement in that EMI picked up the album and hit him off with a nice payoff.

Raekwon discusses creativity in hip hop music, and that the radio and record labels are failing hip hop because there’s a lot of artists bringing that real ish that are being overlooked. Raekwon then goes on to discuss the difference between the 36 Chambers era and today, and the influence of payola. He drops some serious knowledge in this interview, particularly when speaking on what it means to be a hip hop music legend. Press play!

Donny Goines, Mistah FAB and Charles Hamilton Freestyle At SXSW

I can’t say I’m the biggest Charles Hamilton fan, but Donny Goines and Mistah FAB are both sick with it. Can’t forget the Canadian Shad as well. SxSW looks as if it was a great opportunity for a lot of the next generation of emcees. It’s evident that Charles Hamilton, Donny Goines, Mistah Fab, and Shad all came off the top, flexing their freestyle abilities.

If you’re a true fan of hip hop music, you’ll definitely appreciate this hip hop video. Hard Knock TV captured some solid footage at SxSW.

Statik Selektah Announces The Hangover

Statik Selektah checks in and announces his next album The Hangover. He gives a sneak-peak at the first single to his upcoming album. The single is entitled The Thrill Is Gone and features Styles P and Talib Kweli. If Statik Selektah’s latest projects have been any indication, The Hangover should be incredible.

Statik Selektah also discusses the One Stop Shop Producer conference held by Sha Money XL. Statik Selektah will be there in attendance along with some of the hip hop music industry’s best producers. If you’re a hip hop artist or producer, it’s definitely worth the trip out to Arizona.

T.I. Sentenced To One Year and One Day

TI Prison Sentence

Well, T.I. received his official prison sentence today. The Atlanta hip hop artist will face one year and one day in prison as a part of his guilty plea to federal weapons charges after his arrest in October 2007. T.I. made his appearance in court today with the support of his girlfriend, Tiny, and members of Grand Hustle. The plea deal also involved T.I. doing more than a thousand hours of community service, many of which have been officially documented on his MTV show, Road To Redemption.

T.I.’s guilty plea also involved a fine of over $100,000. T.I. is slated to officially begin his prison sentence within the next six to eight weeks. The length of the sentence is interesting in that it may allow T.I. to be released ahead of schedule for good behavior. Had the prison sentence been exactly 1 year, he would have had to serve it out in its entirety. Hold your head T.I.

Serius Jones Presents Street Politicz Part 2 featuring Skyzoo

I’m not sure how I missed part one of Street Politicz from Serius Jones. This time for part two, he links up with Skyzoo. They drop some knowledge in this hip hop video clip. The footage is shot on location in the subway, and starts off as Skyzoo talks about the reasons he makes music.

Skyzoo speaks on the importance of authenticity (are you listening Officer Rawse?) and making music he wants to make. Serius Jones talks about bringing real life into his music, whether its on the streets or dealing with corporate America, and what he considers creativity.

The second part of Street Politicz Part 2 is on some real ish. While riding on the subway train, Skyzoo and Serius Jones talk about why a lot of people say that New York Hip Hop fell off. Both of them let it be known that they don’t blame the DJ.

Skyzoo raises a real good point when he speaks on radio DJs being clamped down to labels, particularly on commercial radio. However, these mixtape DJs and Club DJs frontin’ on good music and playing the same garbage while knowing its wack need a reality check.

Skyzoo and Serius Jones then talk about the reason why NY fell off. Serius Jones basically reiterates what people have been saying forever about everybody in New York thinking they can rap, and the overall hateful atmosphere.

I hear you Serius Jones, but I have a feeling, through artists like yourself and Skyzoo, a change is gon’ come. Anyhow, I’ll be lookin’ out for part 3 of Street Politicz. Press play to check the footage.
