M.O.P. Interview with the Round Table Show

M.O.P. sits down with the Round Table Show for a 3 part interview. In part 1, They speak on the resurgence of Brooklyn, how they became M.O.P. and that they’ve always been tight as a duo since they were toddlers. They speak on being on the House Party soundtrack, and being on the same label as Kid-N-Play. Damn, Lil Fame breaks it down as M.O.P. went from Select to Relativity to Loud to Columbia to Rocafella to G-Unit, and now to Koch. That’s some serious label shuffling. Lil Fame and Billy Danze speak on their relationship with DJ Premier and that he will be involved in their upcoming album.

Part 1

In part 2, Lil Fame and Billy Danze speak on their latest material, and the buzz of Blow The Horns. They speak on how they continue to maintain themselves as a duo. Lil Fame speaks on his numerous names, and his role as a producer thus far. You gotta love it how both Billy Danze and Lil Fame speak on how wack the radio is and continues to be. All you radio directors need to listen to these two because that is the utter truth. I can’t bear to listen to Hot 97 or even Power 105 anymore. I’m tired of hearing computerized voices over instrumentals. Like KRS said, when did the human voice become so played out?!

Part 2

But anyhow, back to the interview and part 3, M.O.P. speaks on their relationship with 50 Cent and how they’ve never had a problem, though it seems like M.O.P.’s never had a problem with anybody in the industry. They discuss their next album, The Foundation, and that we should expect that album in June. Lastly, they talk about wanting to work with Scarface and Nas in the future. Scarface, are you out there?? That would be a crazy record.. M.O.P., Scarface and Nas… history in the making!!!! But yeah, wishful thinking.

Part 3

Donny Goines Feature in XXL Show and Prove June 2009

Donny Goines - Show and Prove in XXL Magazine June 2009

Shout outs to Donny Goines, who sent this through to me earlier today. Donny Goines will be featured in the June‘s XXL (Eminem featured on the cover) in the Show and Prove section. Donny Goines is one of the hardest working hip hop artists out, and its good to see it continue to pay off for him as he keeps moving forward with it. His grind does not stop and it goes to show that you can make good music, network, and flat out work hard and still be successful in this business.

Here’s some excerpts from the article:

In 2007, Goines would get his first break, when he sent an e-mail with his single to NYC morning radio show host Ed Lover, who then played the song “Do It For Hip Hop” on Power 105.”

“The rapper has since received a few major-label offers, but Goines remains steadfastly independent by choice, while being heavily focused on his sophomore album, The Breakfast Club.”

Sounds like: Cam’ron meets Common

Buckshot and KRS-One – Robot Behind The Scenes Video

Buckshot and KRS-One take you behind the scenes of their video shoot for Robot, off their new album Survival Skills. Buckshot and KRS-One explain what was behind the making of the track and vocal effects and utilization of autotune as an instrument. KRS-One actually bigs up autotune and makes it clear he’s not dissing T-Pain, but all the artists that basically bit his style and the lack of the human voice in the hip hop industry now.

Both Buckshot and KRS-One have serious knowledge when it comes to hip hop music and hip hop culture, and both will forever remain a relevant face in underground hip hop, and hip hop music in general. Understand that. KRS-One stays dropping knowledge even though I know a lotta dudes, especially the newer hip hop “fans” don’t want to hear it. Robot is a dope track, and Survival Skills will be, without a doubt, a very good album.. no, a great album for hip hop music as a whole. Shout out to Mikey Fresh and Miss Info!

As a bonus, check the video below, as Buckshot, KRS-One, and Dru-Ha discuss Rick Ross vs. Asher Roth, frequently dubbed Ross v. Roth. KRS-One gots jokes, and Buckshot and Dru-Ha speak on why Rick Ross being a C.O. doesn’t matter to some.

Grafh Interview with Gasface

Grafh sits down with the French Magazine Gasface for this hip hop interview. Grafh talks about his start and how he focused more on the street than the music despite some of the industry’s biggest names coming into the Blackhand Studios to work with Chaz. He speaks on the overwhelming amount of mixtapes that are out, and how the oversaturation is bad for sales and hip hop music in general. Grafh gives props to Nas as one of the best artists from Queens to really speak on what was really going on in Queens through his story-telling ability. Grafh also talks about growing up with the influences of the artists that made Queens what it really is, but a lot of the younger hip hop artists and individuals really don’t know what Queens is about and are repping it wrong.

Another solid interview, though I wish Gasface would have posted up the questions asked. Grafh has a crazy history to tell, as we have heard in many of his songs. Coming up in Jamaica Queens and being surrounded by one of the most influential people in the hip hop world in Chaz Williams, he definitely has a lot to speak on. Not too mention the politics of the hip hop music industry that he’s encountered with labels, and now working to establish Blackhand and really repping the New York underground hip hop music reemergence. Shout out to Grafh. Press play!

Styles P Queens-HipHop Interview

Styles P chops it up with Queens-HipHop.com for an interview and DJ Nice’s Birthday Bash. Styles P reveals that he’d like to work with Nas. He also talks about Run DMC’s influence and their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, whether he prefers mixtapes or albums, and how producers can get him and other D-Block members production. Lastly, he speaks on the success of The Last Kiss from Jadakiss, what projects D-Block has coming up in the future, his thought on hip hop blogs, and the prospect of a Styles P and 50 Cent collaboration.

The interview is well put together. Styles P drops some knowledge despite his condition lol. Press play, and make sure you pick up that D-Block No Security album coming soon!

Termanology and Ed Rock (Ea$y Money) Interview

Ea$y Money & Termanology Interview S.T.R.E.E.T STDASQUAD from Sev One on Vimeo.

Termanology and Ed Rock aka Ea$y Money sit down for an interview as they prepare the S.T.R.E.E.T. album before Ed Rock gets locked up for 18 months. Termanology and Ea$y Money discuss the meaning of S.T.R.E.E.T. and ST. Da Squad, both in the past and current state. Termanology speaks on Ea$y Money’s ability to write songs at an incredibly rapid rate, and the motive behind the S.T.R.E.E.T. album. Ea$y Money’s first single off the S.T.R.E.E.T. album is Wait For Me, produced by Lee Bannon. Catch a clip of the single at the end of the interview.

Its too bad to see Ea$y Money get locked up for some time. From the various times I’ve met and spoke with him, he’s a humble dude who is incredibly talented on the mic. Wait For Me has that sound, and worst case scenario, the underground hip hop fans in Mass will definitely be anticipating this album. I have a feeling it will spread far beyond just Massachusetts though.
