So Blackstar (Talib Kweli and Mos Def) performed to a sold out crowd at the Nokia Theatre in NYC last night. Anybody else still fiendin’ for a Blackstar reunion album? There’s a lot of footage going around of the Blackstar concert, but RapRadar had what was probably the best. With that said, let me cut the talk, and check the footage below. Shout outs to Talib Kweli and Mos Def… timeless hip hop music… enough said.

Method Man, Redman and Busta Rhymes Talk 90s Hip Hop Music

Redman, Method Man and Busta Rhymes speak on the 90s in this video clip. Redman breaks it down exactly how I would’ve said it myself. If you wanted to come out in the 90s, you HAD to be an emcee…not a rapper.. but an emcee.. And you had to be THORO on the mic. The 90s was an amazing era for hip hop music. The last two years though has definitely marked a serious resurgence of good hip hop music. *If you haven’t purchased Blackout 2, head over to iTunes and cop that… its worth it.*

Maino – If Tomorrow Comes Tracklist

Maino - If Tomorrow Comes

Am I particularly excited about the release of this album? I can’t say I am, though I will say that Maino has been on his grizzly for a minute, and If Tomorrow Comes is long overdue. While I’ve thought Maino is a solid artist with some serious street credibility for some time, I thought Hi Hater would be it for him. I hated that song, but it exploded and garnered him some serious airplay at a level that reminded me of This Is Why I’m Hot. However, contrary to MIMS, Maino has seemingly maintained his success level, as All Of The Above continues to receive serious spins. I’m sure the T-Pain hook has helped in that regard though. Anyhow, If Tomorrow Comes is a dope title. So check the cover for Maino’s debut album, If Tomorrow Comes, above. It is scheduled for release on June 30, 2009 on Atlantic Records. The tracklist is below.

Nature Documentary Preview

Honestly, Nature’s name probably doesn’t mean much to many of the new generation of hip hop music fans. Anyhow, he brings forward this preview of his documentary. Those that do know of Nature for the most part remember him as replacing Cormega in Nas’s supergroup, The Firm. Since then, he really hasn’t made much of a splash in the industry, though from the negativity I’ve heard about him in regard to his business model and work ethic, I can’t say that I don’t see why. I really want to root for a Nature comeback. I’m a sucker for that QB sound, but for the amount of times I’ve tried to reach out to Nature with no success, I just don’t know if its in the cards. But regardless, for those that were hardcore Nature fans, you probably will appreciate this little clip. On a sidenote, are people really using myspace still as their homebase? Do people still even use myspace?

Donny Goines - The Breakfast Club Free Download

After a 1 1/2 week hiatus thanks in part to finals week and moving, I’m back. There’s no better way to set things back off than with Donny Goines latest album release, The Breakfast Club. In a bold move, Donny Goines has elected to give The Breakfast Club away for FREE download. Yes, I said, FREE download. Donny Goines is not your traditional hip hop artist by any means, and quite frankly, its paying off for him. He was recently featured on Peter Rosenberg’s Hot 97 show, and had received press from major publications. (Hit the archives)

The album features production from the likes of Buckwild, Statik Selektah, DJ Static, Dame Grease, Cookin’ Soul and more. It also has artist features that include Skyzoo, Reks, Tanya Morgan, Big Lou, Planet Asia, Termanology, Rain, Peter Hadar and more. Check out the press release of the album below the download link:

Download: Donny Goines – The Breakfast Club

Donny Goines has never faltered in his fight to become one of the best to ever bless a mic. His relentless work ethic and passion for the genre he has submerged himself in once again has paid off when it comes to THE BREAKFAST CLUB, the new album from this Harlem lyricist. “This is my second official album and also a continuation of sorts. Minute After Midnight, my debut was the first part of a trilogy and The Breakfast Club is meant to pick up where the last one left off,” explains Donny.

Like everything Donny devotes his attention to, THE BREAKFAST CLUB is another piece of work that differentiates him from the sea of unsigned rappers hoping to secure that mainstream attention. Boasting a diverse supporting cast, Donny has strayed away from the norm and hand selected a variety of performers to join him in this chapter of his recording career. “The project title derives from the classic movie and is meant to showcase my versatility and growth, but instead of different characters in a classroom, you have different musicians in a studio. All from different walks of life, different perspectives and different ideas which in the end tie together to create an eclectic blend of music and sounds,” he concludes.
Available for free download like the majority of his projects, Donny continues to provide constant musical nurture for his expanding fan base without expecting any monetary gain. To Donny Goines it has always been about the music and nothing more. His mantra in giving the fans what they want will always take precedent over monetary gain. “With this album it was important to me for people to just listen. I didn’t want any apprehensions or hindrances with this project at all and my main goal is to just get the music to the masses. There will always be times to make money, but my focus now is making an impact.”
With production falling into the hands of a selection of acclaimed beatsmiths such as Dame Grease, DJ Static, Buckwild, Cookin Soul and more, THE BREAKFAST CLUB was recorded mixed and Executive Produced by Ariel Borujow of Westward Music and is presented by
