Duck Down Records had a very solid year thus far with successful releases from Torae, and Buckshot and KRS-One. Not too mention Skyzoo readying to drop his album, The Salvation on Tuesday. In light of The Salvation’s upcoming release, I’m gonna highlight Skyzoo and Duck Down Records the next seven days. Looks like Sean Price’s Kimbo Price has been scheduled for an October 27, 2009 release! The mixtape, which serves as the prelude to Sean Price’s Mic Tyson album, will feature guest appearances from Rock of Heltah Skeltah, Ruste Juxx, Torae, Skyzoo, Royce Da 5’9″, and Poison Pen, as well as production from PF Cuttin’. KRS-One and Buckshot Survival Skills Album Release Show

Last night marked the album release for Buckshot and KRS-One‘s Survival Skills. To celebrate the album release, Buckshot and KRS-One, and a large number of guests came out to SOBs in NYC. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to attend the show and be backstage. This video is a brief glimpse of what went down… though pardon my video editing skills. They suck for lack of better terms. I’ll be posting footage of individual performances throughout the day.

Let me just say that the Survival Skills album release show was a great night for hip hop. Despite the initial problem of the guestlist being nowhere to be found, resulting in myself and my brother waiting outside for over an hour til they got it right, it was an incredible event.

Who was in the building? Well, let’s see… Kid Capri, Funkmaster Flex, DJ Premier, Busy Bee, TEK of Smif-N-Wessun, Sean Price, Rock of Heltah Skeltah, Pharoahe Monch, Skyzoo, Torae, Statik Selektah, Dan Green, Melanie Fiona, Immortal Technique, Taiger, and so many more!

Skyzoo presents part 1 and 2 of the making of his upcoming album The Salvation. In the series, Skyzoo previews some joints off The Salvation, which will be released on Jamla Records / Duck Down Records. From the sounds so far, Skyzoo delivers that classic hip hop music sound on The Salvation. I can’t say I’m surprised by that though, as I’m highly anticipating this album.
