Buckshot Video Interview With iHipHop

Buckshot got up with iHipHop.com backstage during the Rock The Bells tour for a video interview. In the video interview, Buckshot talks about going the independent route in hip hop music, and of course, his new album with KRS-One, which is entitled Survival Skills.

Skyzoo – The Making of The Saving Parts 1 and 2

Skyzoo presents part 1 and 2 of the making of his upcoming album The Salvation. In the series, Skyzoo previews some joints off The Salvation, which will be released on Jamla Records / Duck Down Records. From the sounds so far, Skyzoo delivers that classic hip hop music sound on The Salvation. I can’t say I’m surprised by that though, as I’m highly anticipating this album.

Torae and Marco Polo – Fat Beats Double Barrel In-Store

I’m a little slow in posting this video, but better late than never. Here is video footage of Torae and Marco Polo‘s Double Barrel Fat Beats NYC In-store event. If you haven’t bought your copy of Double Barrel yet… honestly what are you waiting for? It’s one of the best releases this year, particularly from a New York artist. Torae performs a few of the tracks on Double Barrel in this video footage.

Skyzoo – POW! Radio Freestyle

Skyzoo dropped in at POW! Radio and dropped this freestyle… yes, freestyle. No notebooks, no blackberries, no sidekicks (does anyone worthy of mention even still use one of these?)… just straight up off the top rhyming. There still are real emcees rockin’ it in hip hop music today. Skyzoo is one of them. The Salvation is coming soon off Jamla/Duck Down. If you haven’t yet, pick up Double Barrel from Skyzoo’s fellow Brooklynite, Torae. I told you… hip hop music is stronger than ever in 2009.

Duck Down Records Cipher in the Park (Buckshot, Rock, Steele, Torae, Skyzoo, Naledge and more)

Duck Down Records has been at the forefront of the recent resurgence in hip hop music. DruHa, NoHa and the camp are doing real good things for the culture and music as a whole. In April, the conglomerate took it back to the essence with a Cipher in the Park. The cipher is quite possibly one of the illest artforms of the hip hop culture, as emcees work to win over a crowd by showcasing their ability to rhyme. Torae, Skyzoo, Rock of Heltah Skeltah, General Steele of Smif-N-Wessun, Naledge of Kidz in the Hall, Buckshot, and members of Team Facelift step to the plate in this event.

Oh yeah, and Torae and Marco Polo’s Double Barrel is in stores today! Support Hip Hop and Purchase Double Barrel Here!

Torae – Underground Railroad Freestyle Video

Double Barrel drops TOMORROW! I shouldn’t have to tell you to go out and cop the album, but I’m going to anyways… go out and purchase it. Torae and Marco Polo put together an album that embodies the truest of true hip hop essences. Believe me when I say it, its a complete work, hip hop in its realest form from start to finish. Anyhow, Torae continues making his rounds to promote the album. This time, he stops in at Jay Smooth‘s radio show (shout out to illdoctrine.com), and drops a freestyle for everyone.

Duck Down Records – Tribute To The Classics Live Performance

All I can say is if you are were in Brooklyn and you missed this show… shame on you. Duck Down Records invaded SouthPaw for an incredible event hosted by J Hatch. Understand what this event was… Torae and Marco Polo opening things up, and then Blackmoon and Smif-N-Wessun killin’ it on stage with classic material. Guest appearances from Sean Price, Craig G, OGC and more… now are you seeing why I’m saying shame on you if you missed this event? Smif-N-Wessun heads out to Europe on Wednesday! Torae and Marco Polo’s Double Barrel drops June 2.
